soap book 250.jpg (9067 bytes) An Education in Soap and Soap Making, a delightful book

"An Education in Soap and Soap Making" is a delightful look at soapmaking methods from 1908 edited by GeneAnn Schaefer.  It contains soap recipes for every type of soap used in the early 1900's, from strong detergents to mild or medicated skin soaps. There is a section on materials and utensils used and methods for making potash lye from ashes. It is a good reminder on just how far we've come in the modern age of soapmaking.  Who would have dreamed of lining a wooden mold with muslin instead of plastic!  It is a wonderful addition to the library of today's soapmaker.
